We are quick learners. We are writing the new words we are learning to read.

We have been learning about the number 10. What I made with 10 pegs is unique.

Look at my unique hair. It is so curly. I loved painting my self.

I love my black hair and my ears. I am unique. No one else looks like me!

I didn't realise how tall I was until my friend drew around me!

We are Unique and I have painted myself. I am so proud of my work

Welcome to Room 8's Blog.

Welcome to our class.  We have a small group of energetic, lively and kind children who are embracing all the new routines that starting school brings.  We work hard and have so much fun.  It is so exciting teaching this age group because at 5 life is full of excitement, new challenges and new learning.

We are spending this term learning about our identity, our uniqueness and how we are affected by our our own cultures.  It would be lovely if you could share with your child some stories that your family told you, or share the knowledge you have about your family culture. Sharing the values you hold dear and explaining why, helps your child to feel they are part of a bigger community that is special.

It is important that we support our children in their journey of "learning how to learn."  The children have a natural interest in life around them and we want to encourage them to question how things work, why they work, what changes could be made and even speculate on what would happen as a result.

We will share things that we have been doing, talking about and exploring so you can see that we are becoming life long learners who question our world.

We hope you enjoy being a part of Room 8 with us.
